【Title】:Identifying the Determinants of Energy Intensity in China: A Bayesian Averaging Approach

【Time】:10:00am-11:30am, Jun.8, 2015

【Location】:6th floor, Main Building

【About Report】:
Facing server energy limits and increasing challenges of environmental deterioration, China has confirmed the long-term strategic aims about energy conservation and emissions reduction. One of significant tools is to improve the efficiency of energy utilization and lower the intensity of energy consumption. However, there is not a consistent opinion about the driving factors of energy intensity theoretically and in terms of empirical studies. This paper figures out the determining factors of China’s energy use intensity at provincial level using Bayesian Averaging model. We find the underlying factors form the literature review; meanwhile, we evaluate the significance of factors using data to identify the determining factors of energy use intensity in China. The findings show that financial supports, infrastructure construction and economic structure can influence and explain the determining factors of energy use intensity better.
