Recently, Doctoral student Ai Xianneng and professor Liao Hua published their research on "The Pattern of Household Energy Transition" in the international journal Energy.

The energy ladder and energy stack hypothesis have been widely used to explain the relationship between household energy structure transition and income, and have been tested in many micro-empirical studies.

The study shows a non-linear relationship between household income and energy mix. Coal's share rose first and then fell, peaking at $4,800(in purchasing power parity terms, the international dollar was unchanged in 2011) ; The trend of oil shares is similar to that of coal, peaking at 7,100 international dollars. Household Energy Transformation is also related to population structure and resource endowment. The aging trend will reduce the process of clean energy transformation.

The research was supported by The National Natural Science Foundation of China (71925008,71950007,71673026) and National Key R&D Program of China (2016 YFA0602801)
