Prof. Chen Pengwan and Prof. Wang Cheng attended the 4th ESHP International Conference

On March 27-29, 2013, the 4th Explosion, Shock Wave, and High-energy Reaction Phenomenon (ESHP-2013) International Conference was held in Okinawa. Nearly 100 experts and scholars from Japan, China, the United States, Russia, Germany, Slovenia and other countries attended the meeting. Experts and scholars at the meeting conducted intensive discussions and exchanged ideas on the frontier issues in the field of research.

Prof. Chen Pengwan, Professor Wang Cheng, Associate Professor Liu Zhiyue, Dr Dai Kaida and Mr Feng Jianrui from the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology attended the meeting. At the meeting, Prof. Chen Pengwan gave an academic report titled "Shock processing of materials at Beijing Institute of Technology" and introduced the progress of research on explosive processing technologies such as explosion welding, explosion sintering and explosion hardening in Beijing Institute of Technology. Professor Chen Pengwan also hosted a coference division as a session chair. Prof. Wang Cheng gave an academic report titled "Investigations on High Resolution Numerical Simulation of Detonation", introduced the application of Runge-Kutta's discontinuous finite element method in explosions, and developed software to simulate flame acceleration and deflagration, detonation and condensed phase explosives detonation and other phenomena. Prof. Liu Zhiyue made an academic report entitled "Calculation of Explosion Performance of Pyrotechnic Mixtures by Minimum Free Energy Principle". He introduced the analysis of the chemical equilibrium state of pyrotechnic explosives based on the Gibbs free energy principle, and used the kinetics of pyrotechnic explosives to calculate and evaluate the explosion performance. Dr Dai Kaida gave an academic report titled "Numerical Simulation of shock wave interaction in cylindrical explosive compaction". Mr Feng Jianrui made an academic report entitled “Numerical study of explosive welding by SPH”.

After an active discussion about our positive application at the ESHP Conference International Advisory Committee, the 5th International Conference on Explosions, Shockwaves and High Energy Rate Reactions (ESHP-2016) will be hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology and Technology, the Beijing Institute of Technology, which is scheduled to be held in 2016 and probably in Beijing.

ESHP Conference Introduction:

The purpose of the ESHP conference (International Symposium on Explosion, Shock wave and High-energy reaction Phenomena) is to discuss new trends and new developments in the field of explosives, shock wave and high energy reaction phenomena, to solve problems encountered in this field and to promote Researchers in the field exchange and cooperation. The topics and contents of the conference include: First, deflagration, explosion and other high-energy reactions; Second, the shock wave and its related phenomena; Third, the deformation of the material at a high rate; Fourth, the innovative application of high energy rate; High-speed fracture under conditions; VI. Refractory materials with high temperature and elastic properties; VII. Shock initiation of high-energy explosives under critical conditions; VIII. Design and testing of explosive-driven projectile accelerators; IV. Numerical simulation of relevant directions of explosive processing. The ESHP conferences are held once every three years and have been held for four consecutive times. The first and second sessions were held in Kumamoto, Japan in 2004 and 2007, respectively. The third session and fourth was held in Seoul, South Korea in 2010 and in Okinawa in 2013, respectively. The fifth session will be held in 2016 in Beijing, China.
