2023 Youth Excellence Program at the Beijing Institute of Technology (Chinese Government Scholarship)

The Beijing Institute of Technology founded the School of Global Governance (SGG), in July 2021. The mission of SGG is to foster an educational environment for the professional development of global governance experts, and the establishment of an international think-tank, thereby creating a nexus for international research and applied collaboration around the subject area of global governance.

To this end, the SGG has meticulously assembled distinguished industry leaders, United Nations and government officials, and executives from both international private and public sectors, to serve as members of both the advisory and academic committees, as well as participate as guest speakers and lecturers. The SGG continues to build international multidisciplinary capacity by hiring lecturers, professors, and researchers from around the world.


1. Introduction

After evaluation by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, and the China Scholarship Council, the School of Global Governance is happy to announce that the proposed English-taught Master's program in“International Organizations and Global Governance”was approved.

The SGG will offer a master’s in“International Organizations and Global Governance”starting in 2023.

The China Youth Excellence Program (A Chinese Government Scholarship), established in 2014, is a program designed to cultivate a new generation of global governance leaders with the following characteristics:

1. An international, culturally-sensitive mindset,

2. Exceptional analytical and decision-making capabilities,

3. Keen understanding of diplomatic relations in the political arena, and

4. Socially responsible global leadership abilities.

The program is primarily designed for government and United Nations officials at the division level or higher, middle and senior managers from public and private institutions, administrators of universities and research institutions, and individuals with relevant experience or education. If you do not belong to these categories, you may still apply, but include a detailed statement of why you would like to join our program and how your aspirations align with our mission and goals.


2. The Program

The Master's Program in“International Organizations and Global Governance”, which will be offered under the Business Administration Major, is a personalized program designed to develop the next generation of leaders who will acquire a strong understanding of issues surrounding global governance and sustainable development. Through this program, the SGG aims to empower students to play significant change management roles and equip them with the tools to do so effectively.

Mission Statement:

The sustained and inclusive educational advancement of professionals, towards globally responsible citizenship, stewardship, and a better world.

Program Goals:

1. Acquire deep knowledge in Global Governance and areas of relevance.

2. Develop the ability to identify, analyze and propose solutions.

3. Understand the United Nations system and how you may play a role in it.

4. Develop cross-cultural capabilities for effective international collaboration and cooperation.

5. Demonstrate acceptable analytical skills and meaningful interpretation and visualization.

In addition to subject matter from four different categories, you will also have access to important tools and methods via a set of workshops that include: decision-making; understanding body language; qualitative analysis; quantitative analysis; data management and visualization; global data; writing case studies; cultural intelligence; leadership type; and personality type. All those workshops will provide students with the tools to better understand themselves, assess their current abilities and chart a map to meet their professional aspirations.

3. Program Requirements

Duration: Two years

Year 1: Theoretical: Full-time courses at the Beijing Institute of Technology in Beijing, China.

Year 2: Applied: Work on the dissertation with your supervisor while you back to your work. Can be remotely from your home country, the location of your work, or during an internship (if the application is successful). Defense of thesis at end of year two.

Funding: Fully-funded with successful application

Eligibility: Under the age of 45; Possess excellent academic credentials; A minimum of 3 years of related work experience. Those with professional study or work experience in global governance or related subject areas will be given preference.

Deadline: April 25, 2023, 23:59 Beijing Time.


4. Application Procedure

1. Register at the International Student Service System of Beijing Institute of Technology (http://apply.isc.bit.edu.cn) and submit your application. Eligible applicants will be issued a Pre-Admission Letter.

2. Register at the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (http://www.campuschina.org). Fill in the application information and submit the required application materials, including the Pre-Admission Letter. When prompted, select "Type A" with Agency Number1563and "Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship" as the applied program.This is a critical step to ensure your application is considered for the scholarship.

For your convenience and complete information, we include the list ofmaterial requiredfor your application, and which you need to prepare before you start the process:

a) *The Photocopy of the Passport (photo page)

b) *The Certified/Notarized Copy of the highest Degree's Diploma / Certificate of Schooling (in Chinese or English)

c) *The Certified/Notarized Copy of the Academic Transcript (undergraduate level and above, if any, in Chinese or English)

d) *Curriculum Vitae

e) *Personal Statement & Study Plan (1,000 words and above)

f) *Two Recommendation Letters by professors or associate professors

g) *Physical Examination Record for Foreigner

h) *Proof of Language Proficiency

i) Non-Criminal Record

j) Other Supporting Documents

The China Scholarship Council will conduct a preliminary review of your application and submit it to appropriate experts for evaluation, who will provide his/her recommendation and comments to the admissions committee. Note that scholarship recipients can only receive funding from one Chinese Government Scholarship program. Failure to arrive in China to begin studies by the deadline specified in the admissions letter will result in losing scholarship status.


Important to Notes:

1. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for admission.

2. It is important to note that the application process is competitive, and the number of accepted applications is capped. This is to ensure the small number of students in the cohort are provided with the highest quality of instruction and learning. Therefore, pay attention to the content of your application such as your CV and personal statement.
