Introduction: BIT’s international summer programs provide students with the opportunity to experience Chinese engineering study and campus life at a top university in China. The program lasts for 4 weeks from 5thJuly to 1stAugust, 2020 and will be delivered by the top engineering professors and operated by a professional supporting team, which makes the program one of the best of its kind in China.There will be four topics offered by BIT during summer, including Intelligent Vehicles and Electric Vehicles(Program I), Big Data Analysis(Program II), The Overview of 5G System - Key Technologies and Applications(Program III)and Chinese Language and Culture(ProgramⅣ). Students are welcomed to choose one of the programs according to their interests and academic background.. Participants will be awarded credit, academic transcript and a certificate of participation at the end of the program. Credit transfer is up to the discretion of each participant’s home institution. The School of Mechanical Engineering of BIT is a national leader in mechanical engineering in China. According to the China Discipline Ranking, conducted by China Ministry of Education (MOE), Mechanical Engineering at BIT achieves 2%-5% in the nation. In the Intelligent Vehicles and Electric Vehicles program, students will have chance to learnthe Academic lecturescentered on renewable technology in China, electric vehicles, off-road vhicles, vehicle aerodynamics and intelligent vehicle demos areas. Apart from these lectures,experimental and practical teachingis also offered tostudents to be engaged in the lab work such as assembling and disassembling engine and transmission. During thetechnology innovation training section, students will participate in related events such as company visit andwork with BIT Formula I Team. In addition to these, we will provide the students withChinese language learning and culture practicesso that they will have a bettering understanding of China. 2. Big Data Analsis (4 credits)
With the development of computing technology, and the development of Internet, Internet of Things, cloud computing and other technologies, information technology has clearly presented ternary fusion tendency of human, machine and material. Big data is increasingly affecting global production, circulation and distribution, consumption activities and economic operation mechanism, social lifestyle and national governance capacity. What is big data? How to mine hidden value from data? How to learn and form the way of thinking of big data? Applying big data analysis technology to our study and work, helping us acquire new knowledge, and using the knowledge to improve our life and promote society's development,are the focus of this study. The summer program includes the lecture on basic principles, related technologies and typical case study of big data analysis from different industries and fields. Combining with the online big data practice system based on public cloud to show the demand for talents in big data and common job positions. Through the program, students can understand the building of big data application system, master the basic technologies and methods of data analysis, and initially have the basic ability to conduct big data analysis by combining professional knowledge and domain knowledge. Besides of these, students will have the chance to learn the basic Chinese Language and visit the culture spots. 3. The Overview of 5G- Key Teachologies and Applications(4 credits)
The School of Information and Electronics is one of the popular colleges of BIT, focusing on mobile communication technology research.As the main direction of the development of the new generation of information communication, the fifth generation of mobile communication technology (5G) will penetrate into all fields of the future society, and build a comprehensive information ecosystem with users as the center. In the 5G System Overview Program, students will have the opportunity to learnthe Academic lecturescentered on 5G key technologies overview, 5G network architecture design, and 5G application scenario overview. Apart from these lectures,experimental and practical teachingis also offered tostudents to be engaged in the lab work such as simulation experiments on the MATLAB platform.During thetechnology innovation training section, students will participate in related events such as company visit.In addition to these, we will provide the students withChinese language learning and culture practicesso that they will have a bettering understanding of China. 4. Chinese Language and Culture (4 credits)
BIT provides the perfect opportunity for international students to get in touch with the traditional culture and history of China and brings students to the places of interest and natural scenic beauty. This program includes three integrated courses: Basic Chinese, Conversation, and Chinese Listening. Students will have more chance to practice their Chinese language skills in the local environment. This program also invites BIT Chinese students as the language partners during study. The extracurricular courses include Chinese Calligraphy/Brush Painting, Paper Cutting, Chinese Tea Ceremony and Kungfu. Additionally, students will gain a deeper understanding of the past, present, and future of China through the historical Field trips to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, etc. Application Information 1. Requirements: (1) Non-Chinese Citizen (2) We will accept candidates, who should be physically healthy and abide by Chinese Laws and university regulations. (3) Only when the number of application students is over 10, we will open the programs. And we will let the applicant know as soon as possible when we get the final information. 2. Time Duration: July 5th(Arrival)-August 1st(Checkout), 2020 3. Application Procedure (1) Group Application The partner-university need to collect all the information of students and fill the application form. After finish it, please send the form to BIT staff. (2) Individual Application For individual students, please get in touch with BIT contact person. *The contact information is at the end of this page. 4. Application deadline: March 15th, 2020 5. Visa The softcopy of invitation letter or admission notice will be sent to the university staff (for group application) or students themselves(for individual application) through e-mail after BIT gets students’ information. If the hardcopy is needed, please inform us and after checking the information of it with students, BIT will send it out immediately. Please take this letter to apply for the visa in the Chinese Embassy. Fees The program is sponsored by BIT scholarship. The students are requested to pay only USD40/day/person (including tuition, student accommodation, teaching materials, insurance, transportation and tickets of culture tours, BIT souvenirs). The rest of the cost will be covered by the BIT scholarship. From Beijing Capital International Airport (1) By Airport Bus: take Airport Bus of route No.4 to Friendship hotel. Walk westward about 500 meters along the road. The campus is on the opposite side of the road. (2) By Taxi: go to the taxi station and queue for the authorized taxi. Before you leave for China, please print the address of BIT in Chinese "北京市海淀区中关村南大街5号bob手机在线登陆留学生中心（14号楼）" and show this to the driver when you take a taxi at the airport so that the driver will know where to go. (3) By SUBWAY: Airport express to Dong Zhi Men and transfer to Line 2, to Xi Zhi Men, transfer to Line 4 to Wei Gong Cun Station, A Exit. 2. From Beijing Railway Station (1)Take bus line #103 to Beijing Zoo. From Beijing Zoo, take bus line 332 to Academy of Agriculture. BIT campus locates on the opposite side of the road. If you select the accommodation on campus, we will offer you: 1. double-bed rooms 2. self-service laundry facility 3. WiFi Internet 4. reception: 7:00am-10:00pm 5. security guide: 24-hour Curfew: dormitory door opens from 6:00am-24:00pm from Sunday to Thursday 6:00am-2:00am(next day) on Friday and Saturday Students are free to find hotels outside campus in advance if they are not satisfied with the campus dormitory as ZGC campus is the very first campus and the facilities in the dormitory are getting old. We suggest that students order the hotel at least one month before because there will be a lot of tourists during summer vacation. Students need to bear all the cost if they live outside campus. Student Card Students will receive a card after arriving at BIT and need to top-up it then to purchase at the canteen. In addition, the main gate of dormitory is equipped withaccess control systemfor safety reason, so the card is also an access card to students dormitory.
