On August 26, 2010, the Party committee of Beijing Institute of Technology(BIT) determined the school motto on the basis of widely soliciting the opinions of teachers, students, staff and alumni. It’s "virtue to approach truth, knowledge to be profound". “Virtue to approach truth” means that keeping virtue so that objective truth can be explored as one's own responsibility. ”Knowledge to be profound" means that sticking to rigorous scholarship so that the ideal of benefiting mankind by mastering profound knowledge can be realized. This school motto is not only the true portrayal of the generations of teachers and students in our school who advocate morality and conduct and serve the country academically in the past 70 years, but also the direction of joint efforts of teachers and students in the new historical period.
