2022 admission statistics of BIT's international students

In the fall of 2022, Beijing Institute of Technology welcomed more than 600 international students to China. Let's check the admission statistics together!

1. Across Five Oceans, From Five Continents

Our new international students come from 82 countries on five continents. The top ten countries are Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Russia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

74.49% of international students come from the Belt and Road Initiative countires.

On the contrary, the student with the shortest name: Hajra from Pakistan (I bet you can count the letters by yourself).

3. Happy Birthday! BITers!

Check out the birthdays of new BITers:

Students born in January and May are the most numerous, whereas the least number of new students were born in February.

Three students' birthdays coincide with Teachers' Day and Mid-Autumn Festival this year (September 10).

We have Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and the Pisces. Capricorns lead the enrollment toll with 57, while we have only 37 Cancers.

57.3% of new students are males, and the rest 42.7% are females — not much of a difference.

Most male students are in the School of Mechanical Engineering, and School of Aerospace Engineering. There are no female students in the School of Mechatronic Engineering.

We have more female students in School of Life Science, Design and Arts, and Law.

What are their native languages?

Including French, Spanich, Korean and Burmese. We have 42 native languages spoken by the newly enrolled BITers this year.

Most BITers speak Urdu, Thai, English, Indonesian and Russian. Least BITers speak Laos, Latviski, Greek, Albanian, Tamir, Hindi, Tagik and Georgian.
