In the golden autumn, the fragrance of laurel blossom. On September 1, the opening ceremony for freshman of Grade 2022 who would come to China was held online. More than 600 freshmen from 94 countries gathered in the cloud and officially became a member of the "Study in BIT" family. The opening ceremony was hosted by Shen Jiapei, the director of the admissions office of the office of International Students.

Wang Ying, the director of the office of International Students, gave an opening speech. She warmly welcomed all the freshmen and introduced the achievements and advanced concepts of BIT in recent years. Wang Ying puts forward three expectations to the students. First, don’t be afraid of difficulties. Faced new language, new culture and new natural environment, we should be prepared to improve our ability to live independently, adapt to and then integrate into college life as soon as possible. Second, we should set up lofty ideals and work hard for them, listen carefully in every lesson, and take every step well. Third, we should broaden our horizon. we should actively participate in various cultural experiences and exchange activities organized by the school, walk into the campus, Beijing and China, and make friends with students from all over the world, and learn from each other and enhance the friendship.

This year, the office of International Students has carefully planned and arranged a week-long online welcome ceremony. Firstly, it helps the students who live in different continents complete online registration in different time periods. The Student Education Management Office released the admission instructions and registration procedures through multiple channels to help students understand the arrangements for the Welcome Week in advance and ensure that the welcoming activities would be held well. Second, a series of entrance education activities were held, including lectures on cross-cultural communication psychology, legal lectures, living guidance for overseas in Beijing, and training lectures in graduate schools to help freshmen understand China's policies, laws and regulations and get familiar with and adapt to the campus life of BIT as soon as possible. Third, for the postgraduate students, undergraduate students, exchange students and language students respectively held a new meeting differently. Different categories of students was provided detailed learning guidance and instructions. The fourth is to organize volunteers from overseas students to "tour the campus in the cloud" together with the freshman in overseas countries to understand the school history and school situation so that they can make full preparations for the upcoming college life.

The "International New Students" are about to start their new journey of "Study in BIT”. I wish every international student can pursue their dreams in BIT, and learn successfully, become a world youth with ability, responsibility and achievement.
