　　The National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Software was approved and established in 2017. This Laboratory is built on the basis of the first-level discipline of Computer Science and Technology, and its main research directions are: big data system software innovation platform based on open source; integrated management of large-scale multi-source heterogeneous data; interactive heterogeneous data analysis technology; big data visualization technology; key technology of intelligent data engineering; big data application development and running environment; and trusted verification of big data mixed source software.

　　The construction objectives of the Laboratory: research and development and test platforms are established based on big data system software technology to carry out research and development of key technologies including integrated management of large-scale multi-source heterogeneous data; interactive heterogeneous data analysis technology; big data visualization technology and key technology of intelligent data engineering; big data application development and running environment; and trusted verification of big data mixed source software, etc.. Big data system software innovation platform based on open source is established to satisfy the needs of industrial development, and cooperation researches with supporting units and advantageous units and regions based on platform-supporting are conducted to provide basic support for the development of big data for related industries in China.

　　The Laboratory is composed by 5 research offices: Big Data Management System Software Research Office, Big Data Analysis System Research Office, Data Visualization Software Research Office, Intelligent Data Engineering Research Office and Big Data Application Development Platform Research Office. In addition, it has an academician of CAS, 2 distinguished professors of the Yangtze River Scholars, 3 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and 2 youth experts of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts. In order to meet the major strategic needs of our State, the Laboratory currently undertakes more than 10 plans and projects, including Key Research and Development Plans of Cloud Computing and Big Data, Major Research Plans of the Foundation Committee, Key Projects and International Cooperation Projects of the Foundation Committee, and Major Science and Technology Projects of Beijing.
