　　The Convergence Medical Engineering System and Healthcare Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, was approved and established in 2015, which is also one of the first batch of ministerial key laboratories, and its main body is the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Department of bioengineering, the Institute of Space Biology and Medical Engineering, the School of Life Science, BIT. The Laboratory is built on the basis of the first-level discipline of Biomedical Engineering, and its main research directions are: autonomous medical system; digital healthcare and medical visualization technology; and space biology and medical engineering. In addition, the Laboratory attaches great importance to the intersection of science and technology, medical engineering, modern medicine and traditional medicine, and establishes the research characteristics of “biomedical engineering research, and biological and medical basic research”.

　　The positioning of the Laboratory: with the goal of meeting the national needs of health, security and defense, aiming at perusing the forefront and dealing with the scientific and technological issues of national economic development, and in accordance with the national major science and technology plans, the Laboratory spares no efforts to promote the innovation and development of domestic high-end medical equipment R&D and manufacturing, and is determined to become an important base for high-tech cultivation and excellent talent cultivation in the domestic high-end medical equipment field.

　　Having formed a scientific research system of “creation, learning and research” the Laboratory follows the principles of the integration of industrialization and informatization and the equal importance of basic research and applied research, and has made many important achievements in a number of fields, including manned spaceflight, surgical robots, new interventional devices and brain cognition.

　　Based on the original research characteristics and advantages, the Laboratory will further refine its discipline, deepen its existing research directions, and strive to develop part of the research directions into domestic leading academic brands with international influence.
