Graduates:

The first semester of 2019-2020 course selection is divided into four phases. The requirements of each phase and the targets are different, including: double-education graduate students (new/old students) who have completed the tutor's double-selection and training plan, training-on-contract students, graduate students from the same academic qualifications, visiting scholars, undergraduates and auditors.

Part-time graduates, engineering doctors, international students and students with equivalent academic qualifications may consult the school teaching officers or instructor before choosing a course.

Arrangements for course selection

Phase 1: Developing a personal cultivation plan

Targets: 2019 freshman.

Time: September 3, 14:00 - September 4, 16:00

Operating procedures:

The graduate student completes the cultivation plan under the guidance of the instructor and based on the cultivation program and 2019-2020 course list (http://grd.bit.edu.cn/pygz/jwyx/tzgg_jwyx/155446.htm). It’s necessary to ensure public compulsory credits, total credits, etc. and meet the requirements of the cultivation program.

All courses in the 2019 academic year is included in students’ personal cultivation plan. If some of the courses have been completed before enrollment, you can apply for credit conversion after the course is selected, but without being included in the cultivation plan.

If you meet the requirements of English exemption, you have to choose "Master's Public English - Exemption Class" or "PhD Public English - Exemption Class”.

Phase 2: selecting courses according to personal cultivation plan

Targets: all graduates

Time: September 5, 10:00 - September 6, 14:00

You can check the results of the course selection at 16:00 on September 6. Please check the class schedule under the “Student Schedule”. If there is a course, then the course has been selected.

Description:

After the 2019 freshman cultivation plan is submitted, the system will automatically synchronize the courses offered to the course selection list. Some courses (Introduction to Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Introduction to Dialectics of Nature, Academic Ethics and Scientific Research Integrity, and Doctoral English) adopt a preset mode, and students do not need to select courses again. If the preset course has remaining capacity, it is allowed to return and change the class at this phase.

For a course in a personal cultivation plan, if there are multiple classes for a course, students can select classes according to the class schedule.

Modification is allowed for the cultivation plan at this phase. But as long as the personal cultivation plan changes, please be sure to go to the course selection list to modify the course selection.

students who retain enrollment qualifications do not need to develop another personal cultivation plan, they only need to use the whole school curriculum tabs to select courses.

Principles for course selection: a random lottery mode is adopted at this phase, and the result of the lottery has nothing to do with the order of selecting the course. If the number of students does not exceed the capacity of the course, and there is no time conflict in the individual schedule, then the course has been selected. otherwise you will have another lottery after course selection at this phase.

Phase 3: supplementing, returning and changing course

Targets: all graduates

Time: September 9, 16:00 - September 11, 14:00

Description:

Courses that are full can no longer be selected, and courses that are under-capacity are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Queue rule: Students who have course selection records in the previous phase and have not been selected will have the opportunity to queue. In the course selection list, you need to click the Queue button to queue the course. Click the button and you can get the random serial number. If the course has a capacity (if someone withdraws from the class), the system automatically selects the course in the increasing order of the serial number.

If you click the Cancel button, it means to abandon the course and you cannot get the queue number again.

Phase 4: unified returning and changing course

Targets: all graduates, undergraduates, auditors and visiting scholars

Time: September 12, 14:00 - September 26, 10:00

Description:

During the listening and experiencing phase from September 16th to September 26th, students can choose to opt out and reconfirm the results of the course selection to avoid missing, wrong or multiple course selection. Courses that are full can no longer be selected, and courses that are under-capacity are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Special requirements for course selection- be sure to read carefully

All academic masters and Ph.D. students have to take an English specialized course. Some English courses have corresponding Chinese course. If you take Chinese and English classes at the same time, only one credit is counted.

Descriptions for public courses and some specialized courses are referring to Attachment 1.

Credit conversion:

(1) Ph.D. students who have passed the "Scientific Ethics and Academic Integrity" at their master's level can exempt the "Scientific Ethics and Academic Integrity" module of "Academic Morality and Comprehensive Quality”.

(2) The credits of graduate courses gained at the undergraduate level can be transferred directly to the graduate transcript.

(3) If graduate students had taken the core courses of undergraduate students, and the course grade would have been recorded to their grade files, but does not count the credits into graduate cultivation plan.

The relevant students are required to register at their school and do not need to submit the application and supporting materials. Each school submits a summary of the credits conversion, and the Graduate School will have a unified credits conversion.

(4)Graduate students have to select courses within the system before taking the examination and earning grades. Graduate students who are not selected for the course are not allowed to take the examination, and the lecturer is not allowed to issue a certificate of achievement for the student. The examination of graduate courses are not reorganized. All results of the assessment (including failure to pass the examination) will be recorded and printed on the transcript. Graduate students who fail the assessment have to re-select the course.

(5)The schedule of this semester is arranged according to the 2019 cultivation program. If you need to select courses according to the previous version (such as 2018 version, 2016 version (revised edition), 2016 version (trial operation)) or select courses that are not in the cultivation program, you should select courses which have same type and character with the courses in original cultivation program under the guidance of your instructor. You need to submit the written materials signed by the instructor to the school, and materials are archived by the Graduate Teaching Office.

Course selection basis

Beijing Institute of Technology revised the BIT 2019 Version of the Graduate Cultivation Program , and the 2019 graduate students need select courses according to the above-mentioned corresponding cultivation programs.

Classroom teaching is an important part of graduate cultivation. Course selection must follow the advice of the instructor and meet the requirements of the cultivation program.
