Introduction to Institute of Engineering Medicine

　　In order to implement the major strategic deployment of national innovation-driven, healthy China and military-civilian integration, promote the close integration of science and technology with medical applications, build a scientific and technological cooperation platform that integrates wisdom and seeks win-win results, and explore a collaborative innovation model that effectively conforms to the national strategy, the Institute of Engineering Medicine, BIT was established in May 2018.

　　Based on the concept of “strong alliance, resource exchange and common development”, the Institute has co-established a collaborative innovation system, which closely combines superior science and medical applications, with its strategic partners, including the General Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army (PLAGH), Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Beijing Aerospace General Hospital, Hebei Medical University, and Shulan Health. With the governance model and operating mechanism in line with international standards, the Institute has brought academicians of the two academies and well-known scholars at home and abroad together to establish research team, which aims to deal with the big issues related to “healthy China”, to undertake the tasks on key technologies of medical engineering, innovative product development and achievement transformation and cultivation of medical-engineering high-level talents, so as to promote the research and development of advanced diagnosis and treatment technology and medical equipment in China to contribute to the health and well-being of people.

　　The Institute is composed by its headquarter Zhongguancun Compus, and Beijing “Engineering Medicine and Innovative Application” New Research Center located in No.8 courtyard, Zhihui, Liangxiang Higher Education Park, which is also an important R&D base. According to the construction idea of integration of application development and industrial transformation, it will create an innovation system to support the overall task of innovative medical product development of the Institute through the deep integration of innovation chain, industry chain and capital chain.
