Introduction to School of Marxism of BIT

　　Beijing Institute of Technology was an important front for the early study and dissemination of Marxism, and its predecessor can be traced back to the establishment of the first directly affiliated teaching and Research Office in 1952, namely the political teaching and research office, which was renamed the Marxism–Leninism in 1960. Time flies, time is like a song, after several institutional adjustments, the teaching and research section was merged into the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1999. In June 2009, the Department of Marxist Theory Teaching and research was established, in May 2014 it was renamed as Marxism School, and in January 2016, a secondary institution for teaching and Research of ideological and political theory courses was established under the direct leadership of the school. To undertake the teaching tasks of ideological and political theory courses for undergraduate, master and doctor Students, to manage the teachers of ideological and political theory courses in a unified way, and to undertake the work of scientific research on Marxist theory, Discipline Construction and postgraduate training.

　　Marxist School is the main unit for the school to organize the teaching, research, publicity and personnel training of Marxist theory, and to consolidate the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field of colleges and universities, it is the main channel to carry out the party's educational policy in an all-round way, to train qualified builders and reliable successors for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and to carry out the basic task of establishing moral character and fostering people. The school is aiming to contribute to the cultivation of high-quality innovative talents leading the national defense construction and economic and social development, to pass on the red genes and to build a "double-first-class" university with Chinese characteristics.

　　Under the school, there are 7 teaching and research rooms, including basic principles of Marxism, sinicization of Marxism, outline of history of China, ideological and moral cultivation and legal basis, situation and policy, public political theory course and social practice of ideological and political course for graduate students. It has Beijing Interactive Media Art Engineering Technology Research Center, Beijing Ideological and Political Theory Teachers Studio, Beijing University Ideological and political theory teaching reform demonstration sites and other teaching platforms. The school also has a master's degree authorization point of the first-class discipline of Marxist theory, and co-founded the second-class direction of "ideological and Cultural Education and Social Development" under the doctoral point of the first-class discipline of pedagogy with other units. In November 2019, the school was selected as one of the first batch of key construction Marxist colleges in Beijing.
