Materials Informatics has been growing into a novel and interdisciplinary research field that integrates information technology into materials design, leading to the rapid development of new materials in the 21st century. Recently, the advancement of multiscale physical models, image processing and feature extraction, machine learning algorithms, and deep CNN really revolutionize the materials chemistry screening, and process optimization. However, designing original structural and functional materials using integrated computational materials engineering (ICME) is still challenging due to the quantitative gaps in chemistry-process-property relationship. Recent artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms fill in those gaps and promises to combine with ICME, enabling the intelligent design of materials for advanced manufactures.
This special issue aims to not only report the most recent breakthroughs in Materials Informatics, but also encourage the new ideas for the future directions of Materials Informatics such as knowledge graph, digital twins, and ICME-AI enabled materials innovations. Prospective authors are invited to submit research papers on topics including, but not limited to:
● Physically based Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) models of materials-process-property
● Machine learning and deep CNN algorithms for materials chemistry-microstructure-properties relationship
● Machine learning based 2D/3D microstructure segmentation, quantification, and regression analysis
● AI enabled physical ICME models for materials property predictions
● Knowledge graph and advanced database enabled design of aircraft and vehicle components
● Digital-twin accelerated process optimization of intelligent manufacturing of materials
● ICME+AI enabled materials invention, manufacturing, and certifications towards applications
All submissions will be peer-reviewed according to the Journal of Beijing Institute of Technology guidelines. The contributions should be original and have not been published or submitted elsewhere. Submit your manuscript onhttps://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/jbitand select the special issue “202304-Materials Informatics”. Prospective authors should consult the sitehttp://journal.bit.edu.cn/jbitfor guidelines and information on paper submission.
