Intra-body communication (IBC) is a signal transmission technology which uses the human body as a transmission medium for electrical signals. It is also known as human body communication (HBC) or body-coupled communication (BCC). Compared with the other communication technologies, IBC has the advantages of high data security and privacy, low power consumption and high data transmission rates, etc. Moreover, the safety of this technology can also be guaranteed, as it has been included in the IEEE 802.15.6 standard. IBC provides a novel short-range communication technology for the data communication among wearable electronic devices, implanted biomedical electronic devices, and electronic devices embedded into environment, and has potential application in wireless body area networks (WBAN), personal area network (PAN), biomedical monitoring system, and other related fields.

Although previous works have investigated the IBC channel modeling, IBC channel characteristics and system design of IBC devices, there are still series of key problems to be solved in this field, which include unified channel models, channel estimation techniques, privacy and security, application method and so on. The purpose of this special issue is to focus on the recent achievements and future challenges on the theory, method and applications of intra-body communication.

Prospective authors are invited to submit research papers on topics including, but not limited to:

● The modeling and simulation for intra-body communication

● Static/dynamic channel characteristics of intra-body communication

● Signal detection technology for intra-body communication

● System design for intra-body communication

● Technology of contact/implant intra-body communication

● Wireless body area networks based on IBC

● Application of intra-body communication

● Other related works related to intra-body communication

All submissions will be peer reviewed according to the Journal of Beijing Institute of Technology guidelines. The contributions should be original and should have not been published or submitted elsewhere.

Submit your manuscript onhttps://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/jbit.

Prospective authors should consult the sitehttp://journal.bit.edu.cn/jbitfor guidelines and information on paper submission.

Submission deadline: October 30, 2021

Publication date: January 30, 2022
